Welcome to the UC San Diego Combined Internal Medicine-Pediatrics Residency Program!
Our mission is to train highly-skilled, compassionate physicians with diverse experiences with expertise in the practice of internal medicine and pediatrics, who become leaders in their chosen field and who care for all patients with cultural humility.
We are committed to creating and maintaining a welcoming environment that affirms differences and the benefits they bring, while also highlighting similarities and shared values.
The program provides outstanding, comprehensive training in both internal medicine and pediatrics in an intellectually stimulating and supportive educational environment. As a renowned academic center, UC San Diego provides an excellent academic atmosphere for balanced training in both Departments of Medicine and Pediatrics, allowing our graduates to pursue careers and leadership roles in any field, whether primary care, hospitalist positions, sub-specialty fellowships, academic medicine, or global medicine.
UC San Diego provides a spectrum of training facilities within San Diego and also provides opportunities for training outside San Diego and internationally. This provides for a wide variety of clinical experiences. Our curriculum is structured for flexibility, allowing more elective time in the latter part of your training for special career interests to be emphasized.
